TS'EPE SYNC
Art serves as a profound reflection of life, and Ts’epe Sync seeks to enhance the storytelling experience by integrating our music with various visual media, including films and television shows. Our contributions resonate deeply as compelling narratives, as evidenced by the incorporation of Komanda Obbs’ inspiring songs, notably “BOSEKANA/ KE LORILE,” which has been selected as the title sequence for Showmax’s drama series *Outlaws*.
Outlaws is the story of two families at war: the Zulu, cattle-farming Biyelas and the Basotho, cattle-raiding Ts’eoles. All episodes now streaming. Set in the lush but lawless land on the border between Lesotho and KwaZulu-Natal, Outlaws is the story of two families at war with each other: the Zulu, cattle-farming Biyela clan and the Basotho, cattle-raiding Ts’eoles. South Africa’s first contemporary Western series, Outlaws is created by Tshedza Pictures’ Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon, who brought us The River, The Republic and Adulting. Fresh faces Lehlohonolo Mayeza and Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku co-star as Leruo Ts’eole and Sihle Biyela. Also look out for Siyabonga Shibe as the Biyela patriarch and Mmabatho Mogomotsi (as the Ts’eole matriarch, not to mention the likes of Nolwazi Shange and man of the moment, Thembinkosi Mthembu of Adulting and Shaka iLembe fame.
All episodes of Outlaws are now streaming.
TS'EPE FRIDAYS
In March 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic began to impact our region, Ts’epe Sethuamajoe launched an innovative program on www.tsepe.co.za titled TS’EPE FRIDAYS. This initiative was conceived to celebrate and uplift Ts’epe artists, providing a platform for showcasing the remarkable talents of musicians who submit their original Ts’epe compositions.
The TS’EPE FRIDAYS program is specifically tailored to artists who are deeply rooted in the Tsépe music culture or its vibrant sub-genres, allowing them to share their unique artistic expressions. A distinguished jury meticulously evaluates each submission, selecting the most outstanding song based on creativity, artistry, and adherence to the Tsépe tradition.
Every Friday, this exciting initiative unveils the chosen songs, accompanied by detailed profiles of the talented artists behind them, thus fostering a greater appreciation for the rich tapestry of Ts’epe music and its contributors.
