Biography
Born “Bakubung Benedict Monamoli” on the 9th of February in Maqhaka, Berea district, Lesotho. Novere is an authentic urban contemporary “Ts’epe” artist who has dedicated his artistry to reviving and preserving the language of Sesotho and promoting different aspects of Basotho culture. Novere started writing music at the age of 19 and this desire was fuelled by the likes of Lucky Dube, Tshepo Tshola , Kommanda Obbs ,TKZee, Mants’a , Tupac Shakur , Apollo Ntabanyane and many other great musicians. Novere takes pride in that he incorporates traditional aspects such as “Mangae, Mohobelo in his to give his music authenticity.
Novere has finally graduated from the many phases of the University of Life. His evolution is characterized by a yearning to revisit ancient Basotho customs and music. The Basotho people form part of a significant segment of the Southern African population and such need to be represented adequately in our industry. Novere provides a strong and fresh representation of the heavily fragmented (along tribal lines) music industry. His brand encompasses inclusion and representation of marginalized populations who have a profound role to contribute to the music business. Novere’s audience is diverse, urban and sophisticated rural audiences who have a hunger for African Knowledge acquisition.
Through his music, Novere believes that he can confront the most profound questions of existence and muster the courage to become who he truly is. As part of the Ts’epe Art Movement, Novere is automatically featured . Through his journey as a musician Novere has worked closely with the late “Abiel Rasekotjana Hatlane” (A renowned Famo/Gospel legend) as a backing vocalist, putting himself in a great position to learn about the craft while gaining experience. It is on Kommanda Obbs’s track “Lokollang poho remix” where Novere gained his recognition by delivering a rock solid opening verse with hard hitting Sesotho bars.
