Senei Makhalanyane, better known by his stage name “Sneiman,” is a musician, actor, lyricist, producer, and songwriter. He was born and raised in a small village on the outskirts of Maseru, Lesotho, near the historically significant site of Thaba-Bosiu. Sneiman draws inspiration from an ethnic approach to music, influenced by artists such as Sankomota, Salif Keita, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, K’Naan, Bongo Muffin, K.A.B.A.S.A, Harare, the legendary Tau ea Mats’ekha, and many other authentic musicians. His name, “Sneiman,” is slang for “salesman,” which reflects his role as an agent for change. Through his music, he aims to inspire disadvantaged individuals, encouraging them to utilize their skills to achieve greater things. Sneiman shares his life stories and narratives, which include experiences from his past life as an underground con artist, in hopes of inspiring people of all ages to believe in their dreams and aspirations, asserting that hard work can help define their own success.
Sneiman has diligently honed his craft while embarking on a journey to create authentic music. His elegant fashion sense is influenced by the culture of early Southern African mine workers, which contributed to the popular traditional Sesotho music known as “Famo.” He also promotes a modern Sesotho fashion style, which he refers to as “Sesotho sa Moraorao” (Modern Sesotho).
