Biography

Rethabile Cassuel “Nai”, professionally known as Omali Themba, is a gifted Sesotho musician from Lesotho, weaving a unique sound that resonates with his heritage. Born in South Africa’s Gauteng province and raised in Maseru, Lesotho, Omali’s musical journey was shaped by local icons like Kommanda Obbs and the D2AMAJOE crew, who inspired him to celebrate his native language through SONG. Omali’s passion for music blossomed in 2012, leading him to form the group Maapara Kobo in 2013. He signed with Sothokids Culture Modelling Agency in 2019, marking a significant milestone in his CAREER. His 5-track EP, “Metso ea setso”, showcased his talent for crafting authentic Sesotho music. Omali has worked with notable local artists, including Morena Sway and Crazy T and also won the award for “Sothokids Culture Agency Artist of the Year”, solidifying his position as a leading figure in Lesotho’s music scene. Omali Themba has represented Lesotho on global platforms, including a notable performance at the United Nations in New York  Omali’s music is deeply rooted in his cultural heritage, reflecting his dedication to preserving and promoting Sesotho language and traditions. He cites Burna Boy, Sjava, and Morena Leraba as influences, aspiring to collaborate with these African music giants. With a growing discography, including the recent single “Phehla” and the song “Mahlo A Batho”, Omali Themba continues to make waves in the music industry.
